Hiring a cleaner
Same team vs rotating crews: pros and cons
Why some cleaning companies send the same crew each visit and others rotate. The four real differences in cleaning quality, the trade-offs, and what to ask before booking.
TL;DR
Same-team service produces better cleaning quality on recurring contracts because cleaners learn your home; rotating crews are more resilient to absence and turnover. Most premium Edmonton operators choose same-team for residential work and rotating for office work.
This isn't an obvious question, and it's one of the bigger quality differences between cleaning companies.
The four real differences
- Quality on the 5th visit — same-team cleaners know which corners attract dust, which surfaces need extra care, which guests cause specific patterns. Rotating crews restart this learning every visit.
- Resilience to absences — rotating crews have more cleaners cycling, so an illness or vacation doesn't cancel your service. Same-team operators have to scramble for a backup.
- Trust comfort — same team means the same faces in your home repeatedly. Rotating crews mean different faces. Some customers strongly prefer the former; others don't care.
- Cost — same-team is slightly more expensive to operate because scheduling is less flexible. The 5–10% premium is real.
How to choose
- Residential, recurring — same team almost always wins on quality
- Residential, one-off — doesn't matter; it's a single visit
- Office, daily — rotating crew if scope is genuinely the same every visit; consistency loss matters less
- Sensitive household (allergies, pets, kids) — same team strongly preferred so they learn the household's specifics
Our model
We assign two cleaners per residential client and they return every visit. Each client has a primary and a backup so a single absence doesn't cancel service. Commercial offices we rotate two cleaners across three offices each so scheduling is flexible.
Frequently asked
- What if I don't like the team that's assigned?
- Tell us within the first two visits and we re-assign. Fit matters; we're not offended by reassignment.
- Will I have the same team forever?
- Almost. Cleaners do leave the company eventually; we introduce the new team in advance so there's no surprise.
- Does same-team cost more?
- In our pricing, no — we built same-team into our base rate rather than charging it as an upgrade.
- Can I request a specific cleaner I know already?
- Yes, by name. Scheduling around personnel requests means a slightly longer lead time on booking, but we accommodate it.
